Library Advisory Board

The Atlanta Public Library Advisory Board acts in an advisory capacity in assisting the City Council, City Manager, and Library Director in monitoring and improving the operation and services of the Library to best serve the public interest.

The board performs the following functions:

  • Recommends the adoption of rules, regulations and policies regarding operation and use of the Library facilities by the public
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to Library Director’s annual budget to present to City Manager and City Council
  • Recommends individuals to fill vacancies on the Library staff
  • Cooperates with other public and private groups in recommending specific programs to be carried out by the Library for benefit of children, senior citizens, and other groups
  • Makes recommendations to advance the best interests of the Library.
If you are interested in becoming a board member, please attend a meeting. Meetings are generally held the first Thursday of the month at 5pm at the library. See our calendar for exact dates.
